Graphic Design and Digital Tools: Album Art
This project implements the way I was able to use Adobe Photoshop to design album covers that demonstrates a visual interpretation of the Phillip Glass Trilogy: Einstein on the Beach, Satyagraha, and Akhnaten.
Within my album cover for Einstein on the Beach, I wanted to create a more abstract piece using the geometric shape of the triangle. The use of various different triangles are used to represent the sense of repetition I kept on hearing when listening to the album.
For the album cover of Satyagraha, I wanted to include a sense of line and shape to in a way mimic the idea of hieroglyphics. For this album, I felt an Egyptian vibe and therefore, wanted to tie in the notion of hieroglyphics into my artwork.
For the album cover of Akhnaten, I wanted to create a piece of work that incorporated notions of the two previous albums. Therefore, for this cover I tried to include the same color scheme while also adding in some line and shape. I also decided to put a symbol in the center that incorporates three triangles intertwined like a trilogy.
For the album art of all three covers, I tried to connect them all together by creating a similar color scheme for all three and also by including the recurrent theme of the triangle.
